Have a go at the Banana Balance Challenge or test your knowledge with a Quiz and hear more about Foncho, a banana farmer – the man with a plan.

We love bananas – in fact they’re our favourite fruit. In the UK alone we eat over five billion a year but cheap bananas threaten farmers’ futures.

In the last 10 years, the UK supermarket sector has almost halved the shelf price of loose bananas while the cost of producing them has doubled, trapping many of the farmers and workers who grow them in a cycle of poverty. Does that sound fair to you?

Fairtrade Fortnight 2014 marks the launch of a unique campaign that aims to transform the banana industry to ensure those at the sharp end of the supply chain, the millions of struggling banana farmers and workers, get a fair deal.

Another opportunity to STICK WITH FONCHO is at the Community Big Brew on Thursday 27th February between 10 am and 12 noon at Mossley Methodist Church. Enjoy a chat over a Fairtrade cuppa. The following Thursday 6th March STICK WITH FONCHO at Mossley Co-op anytime between 11 am and 4 pm and visit the Fairtrade Mossley stall for Banana recipe ideas.
