We rely on it for so many parts of our everyday lives, but do the people who farm cotton get a good deal from it? Farmers in West Africa and India desperately need a fair price for what they grow, so they can work their way out of poverty. Produced as part of ‘Cottoning on to Fairtrade procurement’ – a project in partnership with People and Planet, Fairtrade Mark Ireland, Plate-forme pour l’Commerce Equitable and the Fairtrade Foundation. An EC backed initiative to raise awareness of development issues linked to cotton production and to promote Fairtrade cotton, particularly in public procurement.
